Over eighty people of all ages attended the ‘Messy Church Christingle’ at Mossley Methodist Church on Thursday 23rd December.

Those who came were able to make their own Christingles and discover the meaning of each of the symbols. In addition a range of other creative activities were available including: working together to make a huge Christingle; colouring acetates in the design of stained glass windows; painting marbles and rolling them over heart shaped collage pictures; and playing a Christmas journey board game.

Everyone then made their way into the Worship area to learn some new Christingle songs. It was a special moment when all of the Christingles were lit and the lights were dimmed as we joined together to ‘Sing Christingle, Sing Christingle, Sing Christingle, it’s the light of Christ’ (to the tune of ‘Sing Hosannna’).

The afternoon was rounded off by sharing a tea of jacket potatoes with cheese or beans and hot dogs, followed by jelly and ice cream.

A further Messy Church was held on Wednesday 26th January, 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. when the theme was ‘A New Start’ based on the story of Noah’s Ark. Here are some photos from that afternoon.
